Entrepreneurship module

The entrepreneurship module is above all designed for the foreign nationals who have arrived in Estonia with the aim of engaging in entrepreneurship.
The aim of the module is to provide an overview of the issues and questions related to starting or engaging in entrepreneurship in Estonia.

You will also find out:

  • What is the economic and entrepreneurship environment in Estonia like?
  • Where and how to receive entrepreneurship-related counselling?
  • How to start your own business? Etc.


The purpose of the training is to help the participants adjust in the Estonian society. For this purpose, the training covers entrepreneurship-related topics.


The training covers the most important topics which are useful to know for anyone who is interested in successfully engaging in entrepreneurship in Estonia.

Among others, the topics include the following:

  • The legal grounds for living in Estonia
  • An overview of the tax system in Estonia, including corporate taxes
  • Information about various forms of entrepreneurship
  • The social networks and associations of entrepreneurs in Estonia
  • Entrepreneurship-related services designed for foreign nationals

What can be gained by passing the work module?

  • Information about the legal grounds for living in Estonia and about where to find further information about this, if necessary;
  • an overview of the economic and entrepreneurship environment in Estonia, as well as the tax system;
  • information about the most important entrepreneurship-related legal aspects, forms of entrepreneurship, and where to find assistance and further information, if necessary;
  • knowledge about which organisations can be found in the field of entrepreneurship in Estonia;
  • an overview of which entrepreneurship-related services are available for foreign nationals and where to find further information.

Training methods

The day is structured keeping in mind the peculiarities of adult learning. The trainings are of a very practical nature, and largely consists of exercises, group work, and discussions.

For example, the participants will have the opportunity to introduce their business ideas to others and to discuss how those ideas could be brought to life in Estonia. Participants who are interested can also take part in an event of an entrepreneurship-related organisation after the training.

Conclusively, the training provides numerous opportunities for immediately implementing the new knowledge. In the course of the entire training, the participants can constantly discuss things with the instructor, as well as with other learners. Thereby, it is possible to exchange experiences with other foreigners and hear what kind of situations they have come in contact with and how they have solved any issues.

The training course lasts for 1 day (8 hours) and its general schedule is as follows:

10:00 – 11:45 First set of topics
11:45 – 12:00 Coffee break
12:00 – 13:45 Second set of topics
13:45 – 14:30 Lunch break
14:30 – 16:15 Third set of topics
16:15 – 16:30 Coffee break
16:30 – 18:00 Fourth set of topics and wrap-up

The training day ends with a summary, and this is when you can ask questions about any topic that might have remained unclear or about which you would like to get more information. Then you will have the opportunity to highlight the most important things that you will remember from the training day.

You will also receive the contacts of the people and organisations you can turn to with any questions you might have after the training course.

The training course organisers will be providing coffee, tea and snacks for the participants during the training day. There is also a dining place near the training location where you can go for lunch.
